Film Lovers, Medical Care Professionals, groundbreaking women, and STEM geeks of all ages:

Enjoy viewing and then discussing the compelling new documentary 1001 Cuts, winner of this season's DC Independent Film Festival award for best short documentary.  "The daughters of Title IX discover that pervasive stereotypes and gender-based discrimination persist within the high-stakes professional world of surgery - a workplace designed for and and still controlled by men."  Directed by Cornell alum, surgeon and filmmaker Sarah M. Temkin. See it together with 2 other STEM related documentaries for a ticket price of $5. Purchase the ticket yourself at https://www.docsinprogress.org/community

March 16th, 4:30 - 6:15 will include Q n A with the directors at the Community Stories Film Festival.

Part 1:  Location: Docs - 8560 Second Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.  Entrance on Apple Avenue.(The entire festival is a 3-day event; we're gathering for the 3-film portion called Science Tales with a focus on Cornell grad Sarah M. Temkin's documentary described at https://www.1001cuts.org/ )

Part 2: Location for discussion over a free beverage immediately afterward: Silver Branch Lagerhaus & Biergarten, 8401 Colesville Rd #150, Silver Spring, MD 20910. First six to register join the hostess's table for that discussion. We'll raise a toast to Cornell affiliated director of "1001 Cuts" (whether or not she pops by.)  No registration fee for Cornell Club of Washington members; just pay your own tab at the Lagerhaus. Registrants should ask for the "Cornell" table when you arrive. Got a daughter who aspires to be a surgeon? It's a perfect event to bring her along.

The Cornell Club of Washington and Ivy Social need have you register ONLY for Part II.

Questions about Part II? Contact your event hostess Maggie, Cornell '86 at librarianms@gmail.com.  Questions on the Film Festival? View more at "Community Stories" link above.
