The Cornell Glee Club and Chorus are Touring the Northeast in January 2024

The Cornell University Chorus and Glee Club will perform a joint concert in Washington, DC., at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19th in the final stop of their 2024 tour. This special concert will be held in the historic Church of the Epiphany, 1317 G Street, NW, Washington, DC.

The singing will continue at a reception to follow at The City Club of Washington, 555 13th St NW, Washington, DC

General admission tickets are $30 and $25 for the classes of 2018-2023.  Tickets are on sale now at Cornell's virtual box office. (through the Vivenu ticketing site used by the Glee Club and Chorus). If past is prologue, the concert will sell out, so get your tickets early.

The concert will feature works spanning five centuries of choral music in nine different languages. The program will include a diverse array of styles from renaissance polyphony to late-Romantic Russian choral masterpieces, folk songs to lullabies, and modern anthems to J. S. Bach's intricately crafted motet Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf.

Founded in 1868, the Cornell University Glee Club traditionally performs Tenor-Bass repertoire, and founded in 1920, the Cornell University Chorus has long been a champion of contemporary works for treble voices. The two groups will perform both separately and combined, and the program will feature performances from their respective a cappella subsets, The Hangovers and After Eight.

The expense of a tour like this is significant and rarely covered by ticket sales.  Please consider a sponsorship to underwrite the costs of the Glee Club’s and Chorus’s tour and the reception that will follow this year’s concert. All sponsorships in the following categories include tickets in a reserved VIP section:

·  Benefactor ($1,000-$2,499) – includes 6 tickets

·  Director’s Circle ($2,500+) – includes 10 tickets

To sponsor the concert, please email Gil Keteltas at cugcindc@gmail.com and note the amount of your pledge, then go to the Tour’s Cornell Giving Page to fulfill your pledge.  If your gift does not fit one of the listed categories, just click the “Support” button and enter your sponsorship amount. We will follow-up with ticket information.

Finally, if you are able to house singers in your home on January 18 and 19, please let Gil know how many singers you can take or go directly to the tour housing form and fill out your information.

Thank you in advance for your support.  We look forward to seeing you on January 19th!
