The Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup, led by the Alice Ferguson Foundation, has become a decisive catalyst for progress that ignites people's interest and passion for the environment and community action. The largest regional event of its kind, the Cleanup provides a transforming experience that engages residents and community leaders and generates momentum for change.
Details: The cleanup is held at the Fort Washington Lighthouse. Park in the Lighthouse parking lot and walk to the shoreline near the Lighthouse. There is a public restroom in the parking lot. The shoreline is rocky and uneven in places. This site is not suitable for children under seven, the elderly, or the disabled.
Directions: From I-95/495: Exit 3, Indian Head Highway/MD 210 South. Travel about four miles to Fort Washington Road. Turn Right, continue to the end of the road.
