Join us for an exciting Cornell Club of Washington Annual Dinner! Amid the breathtaking views of the Georgetown Waterfront, the Potomac River and the Watergate Building, we will hear President Steve Piekarec deliver the Club’s annual report, recognize outgoing and incoming Club leadership and listen to Vivian Schiller’s insider’s view on the ever-changing media industry.
About Vivian Schiller
A media executive and journalist with more than 20 years experience in the industry, Vivian Schiller A&S ’83 joined NPR as President and CEO in January 2009. Prior to joining NPR, Schiller served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of NYTimes.com, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Discovery Times Channel, and Senior Vice President of CNN Productions.
Documentaries and series produced under her auspices earned multiple honors, including two Peabody Awards, two Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Awards, and five Emmys. Schiller began her career as a simultaneous Russian interpreter in the former Soviet Union, which led her to documentary production work for Turner Broadcasting.
Ms. Schiller was also featured in the January 2010 Cornell Alumni Magazine.
