Dartmouth Club of Washington - Wine and Foods of Argentina

Please join fellow Ivy Alumni for a special adventure and tasting of the wines and food of Argentina. Hailey Morton of GiraMondo Wine will make a presentation about wines of Argentina.

 

This reception will include a wine passport including the main Argentine wine regions including Mendoza, San Juan, La Rioja, and Salta Cafayate as well as tasting tips and a tasting sheet. Learn about the most celebrated wines of Argentina including:

  • Malbec, the full bodied french grape that does wonders in the elevated vineyards of Mendoza Valley and deliver a nice complexity of dark fruit, minerality and tertiary aromas
  • Bonarda, a medium-bodied northern italian grape with great fruity flavors
  • Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the Bordeaux varietals that found a new expression in Argentina,
  • Malbec-based blends, understand the great potential of assemblage in Argentina
  • Torrontes, a grape from northern spain that delivers wonderful aromas of passion fruits, orange and papaya.

 

There will be a buffet of tapas and argentine delicacies such as meat empanadasvegetarian empanadasgrilled spicy sausagetortilla de patatascroquetas de pollo.
