MBAs in Government Contracting

Thursday Jul 9 20096:30 pm

Between the Stimulus Package and increasing need for more sophisticated government processes, the two no-doubts growth industries for the DC market are government and government contractors. On July 9th hear from Columbia and Chicago Booth MBAs who work for government contractors.

About the Panel

Art Medici (Columbia MBA’84) and a longstanding entrepreneur & financier in the government contracting space will moderate a panel of speakers from IBM, CGI Federal, SAIC, Northrop Grumman, Deloitte, and other smaller contractors (that, by definition, you’re not likely to have heard of).

The panel will address the following “takes” on government contracting:

The Contractor Ecosystem

  • Defense (Hardware) Contractors (e.g. Northrop Grumman)
  • Civilian IT/Process/Analysis Contractors (e.g. IBM, CGI Federal, SAIC)
  • Small, niche specialty shops

Getting a job:

  • The Large Contractor Experience
  • The Small Contractor Experience

Becoming a Contractor

  • The Entrepreneurial Experience

Come listen as experienced Columbia and Chicago MBAs share their insights into the industry space, its virtues, charms and peculiarities, and how you can position yourself to be ahead of the wave. Check www.cbsdcalumclub.com for the latest information on the exact speakers. This panel is also appropriate for pre-business school students who think they might like to be in government contracting after business school. This event is at a stunning space, and one that lends itself to the culinary delights of Penn Quarter for drinks & dinner afterwards.
