2009 Washington D.C. Dragon Boat Festival · Save the date
The Cornell Club of Washington is getting ready to hatch another brood of Big Red Dragons to compete in the 2009 Washington Dragon Boat Festival. Each team will consist of 20 paddlers plus two alternates. The races will again be on mornings and afternoons of May 16 and 17, 2009 on the Potomac near the Kennedy Center. Come picnic and cheer on the Big Red!
Become a Paddler!
Send Co-Captain Kate Bryan an email to join the team early and get in on the fun and exercise. We want both new team members and experienced folks to join in. No previous experience in this, or any other sport is necessary, and friends as well as alumni can join— we welcome all and will train you. The Cornell Big Red Dragons has always done well in this Festival and always with newcomers on board.
Three one-hour training sessions--first to learn how and then to fine tune our timing— have been scheduled at the Anacostia Community Boat House on the Anacostia River by the Washington Navy Yard in Southeast DC:
- Sat 18-Apr 1-2:30pm
- Sat 25-Apr 1-2:30pm
- Sun 3-May 1-2:30pm
The cost for competitors is $44 per seat in the boat, including all lessons and two days of racing. (There is no cost to be a spectator.)
Race Day
Race times will be posted on Saturday and Sunday mornings. More information on the Festival is available on the web at www.dragonboatdc.com.
Rain dates are May 30–31.
