Update on Greek Life At Cornell with Dean Apgar
In the pleasant, historical surroundings of the City Tavern Club, the oldest private club in Washington DC, a group of interested alumni heard that Greek Life is continuing to thrive and improve. The group attending ranged from the Classes of '48 to '08 and represented 11 Greek chapters (4 sororities and 7 fraternities).
On March 24th, CCW sponsored a Greek Life Reception at the City Tavern Club. Thanks go to former CCW Board member Phil Ballard '00, for serving as CCW's sponsor. Featured was a talk by Associate Dean Travis Apgar updating alumni about Greek Life on Campus as it is today. Dean Apgar oversees all Greek Life issues and programs on campus.
Although this was not an event which will occur on a regular basis, those CCW members attending and those who were unable to attend can receive by email a newsletter sent in the fall and spring called Greek Forum. In it, alumni can read what is going on in the Cornell Greek community, ranging from the Tri-Council Conference, Cornell Hazing Prevention Week, the A.D. White Leadership Conference ( for all Greek leaders), and various commu- nity endeavors and how Cornell Outdoor Education is involved with Greek Life, to name only a few topics for which this Forum provides reliable and timely information.
