CCW DC Public Schools Beautification Day Community Service - Volunteers Needed
DC Area Cornell Alumni are invited to volunteer for the 2008 DC Public Schools Beautification Day on Saturday, August 23rd from 8am to 1:00pm. This annual event was established in 2005 as a citywide “spruce up” of all DC public school buildings in preparation for the first day of school.
This year we have been assigned to J.O. Wilson Elementary School (660 K St NE), which is where we were for Hands on DC this past spring. The nearest metro station is New York Ave (Red), 0.6 miles away.
Volunteer activity includes landscaping, trash pick up, light painting, planting flowers and other external beautification efforts. Last year, 1700 volunteers populated all DCPS schools to help restore the facilities in preparation for the start of schools!
