Cornell-on-the-Anacostia

Sunday Jun 1 20081:00 pm

Come try your hand or just savor the strawberries, meet other Cornellians and watch. We will be using dragon boats (20 paddlers), 8-oared shells and an 8-oared training barge for beginners. Fresh strawberries and cream will be served under red and white canopies.

We are especially grateful to our partners for this event: Capital Rowing Club and the National Capital Area Women’s Paddling Association. Volunteers from both clubs will help us “learn the ropes”‘ through brief, handson introductions to crew-type rowing and dragon boat paddling.

Experience some of the positive happenings along the Anacostia Waterfront. Since the first “Cornell-on-the-Anacostia” in 2001, the Community Rowing Center has burgeoned into the 3-acre Anacostia Community Boathouse site with ten different member organizations offering rowing and paddling programs for all age groups.

Cornell Crew Alumni: This event on the Anacostia may be the best chance of the year to row together with other crew alumni. Capital Rowing Club is ready to let us use their equipment. Please let Bob Day know ASAP how many of you want to row in Eights so we can arrange enough shells.
