Ivy Singles Plus Spring Hike and Picnic
Ivy Singles Plus invites you to join us for a spring hike and picnic in a wetlands sanctuary on the eastern edge of the Patuxent River, near its confluence with Chesapeake Bay. Visit the nature center, take a researcher-guided tour, view wildlife and join friends for a bring-your-own picnic lunch.
Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary is in Anne Arundel County, Maryland about 10 miles outside the Beltway. We will meet at 10:00am at the Sanctuary (only with reservations, no drop ins). There is a $10.00 entrance fee at the Sanctuary.
BRING: Water for hiking, binoculars if you have them, your own picnic lunch/drinks (picnic tables are available but no food or beverages)
WEAR: Hiking clothes, light or heavy depending on the weather but covering legs and arms, sturdy shoes and strong legs (there are short and long trails, some up and down terrain, wood stairs without rails). If rain is in the offing, bring light rain gear and non-skid shoes, the trails and stairs could be slippery. There will be no rain date.
In order to preserve the unusual habitat, all visitors are required to make reservations ahead; ISP has 25 spots, so it is necessary to sign up no later than Saturday, May 18, 2008; this time there can be no last minute drop ins.
NEXT EVENT: ISP’s Annual Picnic, near Sugarloaf Mountain Maryland, Sunday. June 22
