Earth Day River Cleanup

Saturday Apr 26 20088:30 am

Cornell alums will team up with other groups to help clear litter from the Anacostia River for he Anacostia Watershed Society's 14th Annual Anacostia Watershed Earth Day Cleanup & Rally Celebration.

We will convene at Kennilworth Park (same as last year). This location is particularly fun because we use canoes to maximize our efforts on the river, and there's a variety of wildlife to be seen in the area. (Please note the “Kennilworth Park ” cleanup site, where our group will be, is different from the “Kennilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens” site; see the event link above.)

Gloves, garbage bags, and water will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd like, as well as a snack as you're bound to rev up thirst and an appetite while on the river. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to get dirty! Layers, long sleeves, pants, and old sneakers strongly suggested.

A free, celebratory lunch to follow at the Seafarer's Yacht Club (1950 M St., SE near the Washington Navy Yard, also metro-accessible, though we can also car pool).
