Ivy Plus at the Old Ebbitt Grill
Ivy Singles Plus! announces a reception with distinguished guest speaker at the Old Ebbitt Grill. The Ebbitt is the oldest saloon in Washington, fittingly situated across the street from the U.S. Treasury building, between F & G on 15th Street, N.W. Our reception will be held downstairs in the paneled "Cabinet Room" with a cash bar and substantial hors d'oeuvres.
Distinguished speaker: One of our members has invited Admiral William J. Crowe, Jr. (ret) (sounds like now), former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and holder of a Ph.D. in politics from Princeton University. Military service includes command of submarines, service in Vietnam and the Persian Gulf, command of forces in Southern Europe and the Pacific. His talk will be about looking to the future, where we go from here in such hot spots as the Middle East, Iraq, Iran and North Korea. He has served presidents of both parties and after retirement was appointed ambassador to the Court of St. James's. His remarks will begin at 7:15p.m., after which he will be open to succinct questions from the floor. Admiral Crowe will be accompanied by his wife Shirley. Please join us for this exciting program. For further detail on this remarkable U.S. military officer, use your web browser, type in Admiral William J. Crowe to find several websites.
