ITHACA, N.Y. -- On May 3rd, the Cornell menandrsquo;s soccer team and head coach Bryan Scales teamed with the Ithaca Youth Bureau for the andldquo;I Canandrsquo;t Wait for Fallandrdquo; Day of Soccer. Held downtown at Cass Park, the clinic saw 30 young, promising soccer players and a few local coaches turn out to enjoy the game and learn a few lessons from the Cornell menandrsquo;s soccer players.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell sophomore Robert Cronheim was one of six golfers to advance through the Local Qualifying Round, held on May 8 at the Bedens Brook Club in Skillman, N.J. Cronheim was the only amateur player out of the six qualifiers and will advance to the Sectional Qualifying Tournament at Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N.Y.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.andmdash;Sophomore equestrian Zoe Samuel placed 11th at nationals in Los Angles, Calif. held May 8-11. Samuel competed in the novice flat class, after qualifying by winning the Zone II Novice Flat Championships.

ITHACA, N.Y. andndash; With the first weekend of the 2008 NCAA menandrsquo;s lacrosse tournament completed, the game times for the Ithaca quarterfinal have been set. After upsetting the No. 8 Big Red on May 10, Ohio State will return to Schoellkopf Field to meet No. 1 Duke at noon on Sunday, May 18. The second contest of the day will feature No. 3 Syracuse vs. No. 6 Notre Dame at 3:00 p.m. One paid admission will give spectators access to both games.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Cornell men's track and field team posted the highest point total in the history of the Outdoor Heptagonal championships on Sunday, finishing the meet with 199 points to claim Cornell's sixth straight Outdoor Heps title. The Big Red easily outpaced second-place Princeton, which finished with 128 points.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Cornell women's track and field team posted a furious rally in the second half of day two of the finals of the 2008 Outdoor Heptagonal Championship, claiming the Big Red's seventh consecutive outdoor crown. Cornell outdistanced second-place Princeton by 14 points, 165-141.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Cornell women's track and field team will enter day two of the 2008 outdoor Heptagonal championships in second place in the standings with 37 points, 23 behind day one leader Princeton. Cornell will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Tigers, with 11 finalists advancing through the preliminaries on the track. Junior Jeomi Maduka won the lone individual event for Cornell on day one, taking home the gold in the long jump at Yale University.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Cornell men's track and field team will enter day two of the Heptagonal Championships in good shape, ending day one on top of the field in the team standings with two individual titles and with the knowledge it qualified 14 runners into Sunday's finals. The Big Red's 50 points is two better than Princeton as the two teams jockey atop the standings.

ITHACA, N.Y.andmdash;Four Cornell softball players received All-Ivy honors as announced by the league offices on Thursday afternoon. Senior outfielder Jenna Campagnolo earns her fourth First-Team All-Ivy nod, and is joined by sophomore third baseman Elise Menaker. Senior outfielder Samantha Hare and sophomore shortstop Alyson Intihar were named second-team All-Ivy.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Seniors Courtney Farrell (attack) and Katherine Simmons (unanimous selection, midfield) made their third straight appearance on the All-Ivy first team when the 2008 all-conference teams were announced on Thursday afternoon by the league office. They were joined by second-team picks Noelle Dowd (attack) and Kelly Hansen (defense), and honorable mention pick Tissy O'Connor (defense) in a vote by the league's eight coaches.

ITHACA, N.Y.andmdash;Cornell wrestlingandrsquo;s Jordan Leen and Justin Kerber were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I All-Academic team for the 2007-08 season. Leen was also named to the team for the 2006-07 season, and is one of three NCAA champions to make the list.

ITHACA, N.Y. - The No. 7/8 Big Red will play host to No. 12/11 Ohio State in the opening round of the 2008 NCAA menandrsquo;s lacrosse tournament, on Saturday, May 10, at Schoellkopf Field at 5 p.m. Cornell heads into the tournament as the Ivy Leagueandrsquo;s automatic qualifier after finishing the regular season with an 11-3 overall record and a mark of 5-1 in the conference. The Buckeyes (10-5, 4-1), which finished the season as tri-champions of the GWLL, earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament after losing to Notre Dame, 9-2, in the conference championship game. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU (channel 108 in Ithaca; channel 609 on DirecTV; channel 148 on Dish Network) and can be listened to live in the Ithaca area on WHCU-870 AM. ITHACA, N.Y. andndash; Four members of the Cornell University menandrsquo;s lacrosse team andndash; John Glynn, Ryan Hurley, Matt Moyer and Max Seibald andndash; have been named first-team All-Ivy, while two others andndash; John Espey and Nick Gradinger andndash; garnered honorable mention selections. ITHACA, N.Y. andndash; The positive momentum of recent years for the Big Red football team has continued to pay dividends on the recruiting trail as head coach Jim Knowles andlsquo;87 and his staff have assembled a 30-person class which will join the program to continue both their academic and football careers at Cornell University, it was announced today. The class will help the Big Red as it prepares to claim its first Ivy League title on the gridiron since 1990.
