Big Red Dragons Dragonboat Racing

Every year, the Cornell Club of Washington competes in Washington's annual Dragon Boat Festival (www.dragonboatdc.com). The Cornell Team always represents the university and all alumni with pride, and our teams have performed magnificently over the past few years—winning the division gold medal in 2007!

The May event is great fun (and exercise) for paddlers— 20 Cornellians and friends, all novices, in each boat. After several springtime practices at the Anacostia Community Boathouse, the team races on the Potomac River in the mixed festival division, against adult coed teams from local companies and other community groups.

The event is a colorful treat for spectators, a great day of fun for the whole family, and a celebration of Chinese culture.
